Using a Leica X6 with the 360-X Tripod Mount
Leica's 360-X tripod attachment allows "point-to-point" measurement between two distant points using the angle-finding tripod head. The Leica X6 can be configured to perform the trigonometry necessary to make this measurement (i.e., between the center of the throws circle and the landing point of the throw). However, when configured for "point-to-point" mode, the Leica cannot be configured to calculate an offset (the throws circle radius, which must be subtracted from the total distance between the center of the circle and the throw itself).
Leica Distos of any variety only work for throws measurements in AthleticFIELD. They cannot be used for horizontal jumps.
To configure the Leica X6 and 360-X in point-to-point mode to measure throws:
- Configure your Leica to measure using point-to-point using the documentation included with your unit. You should be able to reliably produce a measurement between the center of the throws circle and a sample throw, and display it on your device.
- In AthleticFIELD's Laser Settings, select:
- Bluetooth LE
- Throws - Point to Point
- Check the Subtract Circle Radius in App? checkbox.
- Choose Leica Disto X6 from the device type menu.
- Enable Bluetooth on the Leica Disto, and connect to it using the BluetoothLE scan interface in AthleticFIELD.
- Once the device is connected, tap Select Circle Radius in the bottom right corner to select the radius of your throws circle. This distance will be subtracted from every measurement reported to AthleticFIELD.
- Press Save on the Select Circle Radius screen, and press Save again on the Laser Settings screen.
- Start your event, and make a measurement from the Leica. The measurement shown on the Leica should appear in the Mark Entry screen in AthleticFIELD, with the circle radius properly subtracted.
