1. Welcome to the Team, Timer!
Welcome to the Team!
You’re joining as a Timer — a key part of running smooth and successful track meets. You don’t need to be an expert yet — just ready to learn, support, and grow.
You might have timed with another crew, helped at high school meets, or just been around the sport long enough to know the flow. That’s awesome — we welcome that experience.
That said, every company has its own systems, tools, and expectations. This guide will make your transition smooth and easy — whether you’re a seasoned timer or just getting your feet wet.
You may be volunteering, shadowing, or not sure what to ask. Totally normal.
This section is here to build your confidence:
- You’ll learn what happens at each stage of a meet
- You’ll get a sense of the gear and the people involved
- You’ll know how to help, even if you’ve never timed a lap
We believe that clarity builds confidence. Whether you’re the lead timer or handing out hip numbers, you’re a vital part of the team — and this will help you find your rhythm.
